Food bill is insane. Kids are thinking they're hungry 24/7. I'm trying to give them food which gives satiety (as much as I can), so they feel full. I'm trying to pimp things up to give them all the important nutrients (but accepting this isn't always possible as I don't always have the ingredients I normally would have). Also trying to get them involved in preparing their meals (because it's a never ending canteen).
My big girl has the most epic palate, and created this smoothie for herself and her sweet-toothed sister. It's a winner and on high rotation now - ideal for breakfast / morning tea / afternoon tea (and most ingredients you'll already have). Enjoy x
Abbie's Berry Delight Smoothie
INGREDIENTS and METHOD
Blitz the following in your blender:
1/2 cup rice milk (or milk of your choice e.g. cows milk or other nut milk)
Handful of frozen berries
Handful of spinach leaves
1/2 banana
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1/4 cup rolled oats
1tsp rice malt syrup (or honey)
ice
*a scoop of vanilla protein powder, optional
Blend to a desired consistency, if you like it more liquidy; then add some water too. We like ours thick and eat it with a spoon.
